 Carlyle Group acquires 42% stake in Domino's Pizza MENA master franchise

carlyle.jpgGlobal private equity firm The Carlyle Group announced it has acquired a 42% stake in Alamar Foods, a master franchise operator of Domino's Pizza and Wendy's hamburgers in the Middle East.

Alamar has 185 restaurants across 11 countries including 75 in Saudi Arabia.

 The Carlyle Group's Mena Fund makes first investment in GCC

carlyle.jpgThe global private equity firm Carlyle Group just announced that it has acquired a 30% stake in General Lighting Company (GLC), Saudi Arabia's largest lighting fixtures manufacturer and supplier.

This investment is the Carlyle MENA fund's second in three months following the investment in Medical Park of Turkey and its first in the GCC. Equity for this investment will come from Carlyle Mena Partners, a growth capital and buyout fund that closed in March last year.

 Carlyle Raises MENA and Dubai Private Equity Fund at $500 million

From offices in Cairo, Dubai and Istanbul, Carlyle’s team of 12 professionals targets investments in Turkey, North Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia), the Gulf Cooperation Council (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates), the Levant (Lebanon and Jordan) and Pakistan. They will directly compete with other Private Equity firms in Dubai and the Middle East.
